A Letter

Dear Voter,
I put that fun little poll over there on the side for a bit of a laugh. I guess you're laughing now, aren't you? 9-10 pounds? You do realize where that enormous baby would have to come out, right? OUCH!!!

Sewing

It seems I sew a lot these days. Half of "sewing" time is me overseeing my quilting/sewing group on Thursday nights. We're all three pregnant, so we're making baby shoes, burp cloths, etc. The other half I get to sew for myself. I'm working on a wallhanging/lap quilt. I don't know what I'll do with it- my mother-in-law got me the lovely fabric in it.

However, I devoted a couple of hours this weekend to a special sewing project. My cousin Casey is serving his country in Afghanistan, and some of his comrades were killed. Casey's mom asked me about making some squares for quilts for the mothers of these guys. I made nine-patch squares of blue and red fabric with a white star in the middle. In the corner, I stitched "For the mother of a hero." (I took a picture, but it may or may not post.)

Is there a better cause to sew for? This cycle- sewing for my coming baby boy, listening to Grant play with his trains while I sew, hearing of brave young men dying to protect my sons and I.

I find myself hugging Grant extra tight about a hundred times a day. Kissing him at least a dozen times as he sleeps when I check on him before I go to bed. It feels morbid, but I thank God for my sons, and I just hope I can protect them long enough for them to grow into strong men. And maybe, just maybe, they'll be heros, too.
